Nana Mizuki is a singer and voice actress (seiyū) in Japan. Born in Niihama, Ehime, Japan, she initially aimed to become an enka singer but eventually became a popular seiyū singer.[1]

She was the winner of the “Best Musical Performance” award in the first Seiyū Awards. Many of the characters whom she has voiced were initially very shy/soft-spoken (however, after interactions with other people, they gradually opened up (e.g. Fate, Lili, Nyamo, Hinata, and Wrath), six of her characters have romantic feelings for the main characters (e.g. Oboro from Basilisk, Hinata Hyūga from Naruto, Colette Brunel from Tales of Symphonia, Tamao Tamamura from Shaman King and Moka Akashiya from Rosario + Vampire), some of her characters craved maternal attention (e.g. Fate Testarossa from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha and it’s sequels A’s and StrikerS, Wrath and Maria), and she was also part of the seiyu quartet “Prits”, alongside Yumiko KobayashiNatsuko Kuwatani and Hisayo Mochizuki (all four voiced characters in the anime Sister Princess).

Changin’ My life

Posted in Japanese Music on March 14, 2009 by Yukari

Changin’ My Life (also known as CML) was a J-pop band which consisted of myco (vocals), Shintarō Tanabe (guitar), Noritaka Henmi (keyboard). They debuted in 2001, and broke up in 2003.

The band is well-known for providing most of the songs for the popular Japanese anime series called Full Moon wo Sagashite (Searching for the Full Moon). Their lead singer, myco, was also the seiyū for Mitsuki Kōyama, the main character in the series. The songs featured in the series are MyselfLove ChronicleETERNAL SNOW, and New Future. Two other songs were also used in the series, but did not play as prominent a role (a few lines of Focus appear at the very beginning of Episode 1, and SMILE plays during a Christmas scene midway through Episode 37).

Their lead singer “myco”, now 24, has left the band and is a solo vocalist.

I liked this band.

Long entry! watch out

On/Off

Posted in Japanese Music on March 14, 2009 by Yukari

ON/OFF are composed of twins brothers by the name of Naoya & Kazuya Sakamoto. Naoya is the older twin. They made their debut when they starred in Fuma no Kojiro as Kou & Shoryu.

They are famous for both of the opening themes for Vampire Knight

Futatsu no Kodou to Akai Tsumi – Opening 1

Rondo – Opening 2

Their voices are great and considering they are just new to the entertainment world, they have many fans.

This is going to be a short entry  as I’m in a hurry, so…. this is all

High and Mighty color (ハイ・アンド・マイティ・カラー)

Posted in Japanese Music on March 13, 2009 by Yukari

Well, this is a Japanese rock band. I don’t really listen to rock but these guys are good. They have sung for the opening of ‘Mobile suit Gundam seed Destiny’ “Pride” and the 3rd opening for Bleach “Ichirin no Hana” and “Enrai: Toku ni Aru Akari” was used as the ending theme for Mobile Suit Gundam Seed destiny: Special edition.

They have too many songs for Bleach and GSD so I won’t mention all of them. Their lead singer Makii is just….. great. I just love her. But she’s leaving, or already left and they have found a new vocalist. Makii left because she was getting married.

Works for Anime

Pride – Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny

Ichirin no Hana – Bleach (3rd opening)

Enrai: Toku ni Aru Akari : Mobile suit Gundam Seed Destiny: Special Edition

Style: Get glory in this hand: Deathnote: The Last Name

Resistance: Bleach (Game)

Dreams: Darker Than Black (2nd ending)

That’s all for their works FOR anime.

The girl is Makii and not the new vocalist.
